From the bookshelf

Probably I was too optimistic the last time when I walked in a bookstore and bought myself Salman Rushdie's The Satanic Verses in English. I've been wanting to read this book for quite a long time, I already read Midnight's Children, Shame and Shalimar the Clown and I really like Rushdie's style of writing, his very unique way of connecting the visible with the invisible world let's say. Anyway when I opened The Satanic Verses I was slapped by at least five absolutely unfamiliar for me words ( I am not talking about the hindi words) and I was like - ok this book will be a bumpy road. I read the first 100 pages quite fast and it is not like I didn't understand what is happening, but a book is much more than just understanding its plot. Now the funny thing is that I have the book in Bulgarian language and god knows why I bought it in English at all ahaha So what happens now is that I read the book in two languages in the same time. Never did this before in my life but to be honest I enjoy doing it.

So that's what I am doing in the evenings lately. Daytime of course is dedicated to jewelry making. I finally got to use the gold leaf Alek sent me a whole year ago. I love it, such a beautiful way to finish a jewelry.

And one more pair of earrings with the old Turkish coins.

Both pairs I shoot over a vintage cook book I found in my granny's drawer. I love its stained and ripped pages as well as the way the book is written. My granny gave me the book to use it for pictures, after I promised her with a hand on my heart that I won't throw it away. It is so beautiful, throwing it away is the last thing I would think of doing with it.

    1. Hey you, Salman Rushdie's name is popular around the Muslim scandal after Satanic Verses. But I am not very familiar with it though, I just remember he was threatened with death by the leader of Iran I think. Something like that I am sure if you google his name the whole story will appear in the first links. But let this fact not guide you in one or another way, he truly is a talented and unique writer.

Thank you for kind words about my jewelry.
